Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in School Education

The Department of higher Education, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh, had taken a number of initiatives in the past years to provide IT infrastructure and IT –Education in Govt. Sr. Secondary schools and Govt. High Schools of the State .In view of this department of Higher Education HP intended to setup fully integrated ICT Labs and Smart Classrooms in 628 GSSS in Phase -1 of  ICT Project .

 

ICT Project was launched in schools of H.P. in 2009-10. The state of HP has implemented the scheme since 2010-2011. In the Phase-1  out of  total  628 GSS Schools , 26 GSSS were covered in  Kullu Distt. Information and communication technology, ICT in GSSS of HP was a window of opportunity to the learners GSS Schools to bridge the digital divide. The scheme was a comprehensive and well thought- out initiative to open new vistas of computer Aided Learning (CAL) and to play a level playing field to Govt. Schools students.

 

For expending the use of information technology in schools, 1525 Govt. High schools and GSS schools were covered under ICT   Project Phase-II. During the Year 2015-16 . 88 Govt. High schools and GSS schools are being covered in ICT phase –II in Kullu Distt.  By M/s  IL & FS  ETS . The ICT Labs have been set up and all 88 labs are fully functional. 5 teachers (3 PGTs/Lecturers and 2 TGTs) from each of 88 Phase –II ICT schools have been given hands on training by M/s IL & FS ETS. 11 GSSSs and GHSs schools were proposed for ICT Phase-III during 2016-17 and 12 GSSSs and GHSs were proposed during  2017-18. 12 GSSSs and GHSs are being proposed for ICT during 2018-19.

 

Out of 35 GHSs and GSSSs proposed during 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19, 10 GHSs and GSSSs were approved  under ICT. Now remaining 25 GHSs  and GSSSs left out of 35 schools  and 3 newly upgraded GHSs ( total 28  GHSs and GSSSs ) are being proposed for ICT during 2019-20.

ICT facility is being provided in 114 schools out of 149 GSS Schools and  GH Schools  in Kullu district.  11 schools were proposed under ICT plan for the year 2016-17. 12 schools were  proposed under ICT Plan for the year 2017-18. Now 12 GSSSs and GHSs  are being proposed for ICT during 2018-19. Out of  35 GHSs and GSSSs  proposed during 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19, 10 GHSs and GSSSs were  approved  under ICT.          Now remaining 25 GHSs  and GSSSs left out of 35 schools  and 3 newly upgraded GHSs ( total 28  GHSs and GSSSs ) are being proposed for ICT during 2019-20.
