Research & Evaluation Activities (REMS)
Research and evaluation is an important component of the programme. Being an integral part of the programme, its main focus is to enhance the qualitative as well as quantitative achievement in the field of education of the district. The basic aim of the intervention is to find out the strength and weakness of the programme and to provide regular feedback. In the district various activities have been taken up in the field of research and in evaluation. To increase the learning level of the students, Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) programme has been started up to class 8 in the district and implemented in all the schools. Other activities like monitoring, learner evaluation, evaluation of results, survey and various research studies on different emerging topics are the major features which have been taken up from time to time under this intervention in the district.
1. Research:-
Under this component the district shall focus on small research studies/ action researches on hard spots and issues emerged from various interventions and classroom process.
By building the capacity of teachers in action research, they will be able to solve their immediate problems arising during classroom process.
2. Evaluation:-
The district has implemented Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) in all classes (1st - 8th). For effective implementation of CCE there is provision of checklist register, teacher diary and pupil progress card and regular assignments to students which are being maintained by all schools. . CCE helps in improving student’s performance by identifying his/her learning difficulties at regular time intervals right from the beginning of the academic session and taking suitable remedial measures for enhancing their learning performance. CCE evaluates not only the scholastics but also Co-scholastic areas of the students.

Strategies for implementation of CCE in1036 schools of District Kullu as per state guidelines are:-
-
There are two term,SA-1 and SA-2( Summative Assessments)
-
Each term have 2- FAs (Formative Assessment) .
-
Different classes have different weight age to formative and summative assessment
As the district has two types of schools i.e winter closing schools and summer closing schools. Assessment will be conducted according to activity calendar which has been prepared for schools by the state.

3. Monitoring and Supervision:-
Smagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) is the flagship programme of Government of India which aims at providing quality education to all children in the age group of 6 to 14 years. The National Curriculum Framework, 2005 also emphasizes the need for improvement in the quality of education. The DIETs need to analyse the Quality Monitoring Data at the cluster, block and district levels and provide area/context specific feedback for corrective measures. In this context, App based monitoring (Shiksha Saathi APP) has been implemented at district level, block level and cluster level for bringing improvement in classroom processes and students’ performance.
